HISTORY

Deakin University got its name from Australia's second president, Alfred Deakin. The University was founded in 1974 and now it has five campuses in Victoria; two of them are in Geelong, two of them are in Melbourne and one is in Warnambool.

Deakin University currently has over 32,000 students. Out of 32,000 students 75% of them are undergraduate students, 25% of them are graduate students, and 20% of them are international students.

ENGLISH COURSES

English courses are offered at the English language institute of Deakin University. Students who successfully complete the language program for academic purposes can start Deakin undergraduate and master programs directly. Intensive Academic English program prepares students for university education.

CAMPUSES

The campuses in Melbourne, Geelong and Warnambol, each of them has its own atmosphere and character. Melbourne Burwood Campus

Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus

Geelong is the second largest city in the state of Victoria and it has a population of 240,000. Geelong is a small seaside town with all facilities, 1-hour distance from Melbourne. The business and manufacturing industries in the city provide students with the opportunity to interact with the industry.

  • The campus is located in a nature that includes native Australian birds and animals.
  • Campus facilities include student halls, international student counselling, sports facilities, bank, bookstore and travel agency.
  • Regular bus services are available from the campus to the city centre and surrounding areas.
  • Around 4000 students are studying on this campus.

Geelong Waterfront Campus

  • The campus overlooks the Corio bay in the city centre. The building, which was used as a wool storage in 1893, was renewed and restored, and a modern and impressive campus was built and received an award for its architectural style.
  • Around 1200 students are studying on this campus.

Warnambool Campus

Warnambool is the fifth largest city in the state of Victoria and it has a population of 30,000. The population of the city is doubled in summer. Warnambool is an ideal centre to see natural life forests, waterfalls and whales. Warnambool, which has one of the most spectacular coastlines in the world, which gets attention with its low life costs and clean air.

  • The campus is built on the Hopkins River, the campus is famous for its friendly atmosphere.

ENTRY REQUIRMENTS

UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS

International students who wish to be admitted to the undergraduate programs are required to study the MIBT certificate or diploma programs. Some courses may have additional requirements.

POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMS

Students who want to start postgraduate programs must have a bachelor's degree. Requirements changes according to doctorate, master and diploma programs. It is advantageous to have work experience for some programs. Students who do not have sufficient criteria for admission to master programs can be transferred to master programs through Postgraduate Qualifying programs offered by MIBT.
